Speech contest winners announced

Davis and BloodworthThe 11th Annual Augusta State University Speech Contest, hosted by the Department of Languages, Literature, and Communications, was held April 1.

There were a record 42 students participating, representing 64 entries in seven different events.
Members of the faculty from languages, literature, and communications, as well as faculty and area residents, served as judges.

First place winners in each event received $50 from Georgia Bank & Trust Company, ASU Student Activities, and The Augusta Chronicle.

Second and third place winners received gift certificates from among the following: COMP USA, Best Buy, T-Bonz Steakhouse, The French Market Grille, Monterrey Mexican Restaurant, Shangri-La Gourmet Buffet, Villa Europa Restaurant, Ci Ci’s Pizza, Rae’s Coastal Café, P.J.’s Coffee and Tea Café, Evans 12 Cinema, and Mally’s Bagels and Grits. 95 Rock provided CDs for all contestants.
