ASU Theatre presents The Glass Menagerie
Augusta, GA - Beautifully precise and utterly human. Augusta State University’s theatre students will bring Tennesse William’s The Glass Menagerie to life, Nov. 8-10, at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. in ASU’s Maxwell Theatre.
The play explores the desire for escape in the post-depression era. The narrator, Tom, a factory worker, is torn between his role as the family breadwinner and a desire to lead his own life. His aggressive mother, Amanda, once a Southern socialite, is trying to maintain her self respect during the Great Depression. Meanwhile, Tom's delicate sister, Laura, retreats to an imaginary world, caring for her collection of glass animals until the arrival of a gentleman who provides her with a new hope.
Tickets are free for students, faculty, and staff with a valid JagCard. Admission is $10 for general public; $7 for seniors; and $5 for students. For tickets, call ASU’s Maxwell Theatre Box Office at 706-667-4100.
