ASU’s Winter Gathering of Writers will feature two authors

Augusta, GA – In its 17th year, the annual Winter Gathering of Writers at Augusta State University will feature two authors who will present a free reading on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 5 p.m. in 170 University Hall.

The first guest, Jennifer Patrick, is a freelance writer and editor and resides in Athens. A native of Durham, N.C., Ms. Patrick’s essays have been featured on Georgia Public Radio.

The second author, Ava Leavell Haymon, has had poems published in such journals as Poetry, The Southern Review, Northwest Review, Prairie Schooner, and in five chapbooks. Louisiana State University Press has published two fill-length collections of her poems, The Strict Economy of Fire (2004) and Kitchen Heat (2006). Ms. Haymon lives in Baton Rouge, where she teaches poetry writing. In the summer, she directs a writers’ retreat center in New Mexico.
