Lyceum Series presents Step Afrika!

Augusta, Ga. - The synchronized sound of foot stomping, hand clapping, and spoken word will fill the air during a performance by Step Afrika! on Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre at Augusta State University.

Presented by ASU’s Lyceum Series, Step Afrika! will entertain the crowd with an interactive and entertaining presentation that includes fraternity and sorority stepping styles, the gumboot dance, and the South African Zulu dance. The ensemble, founded in 1994, began as cross-cultural exchange program with the Soweto Dance Theatre of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Included in the performance will be a mini-step workshop that encourages audience members to learn a basic step.

The Lyceum Series sponsored event is free with a valid ASU ID; general public, $5. For tickets, call ASU’s Maxwell Theatre box office at 706-667-4100.
