Malnutrition as a threat to cognitive development
Augusta, GA – Malnutrition is an epidemic of global proportion. It is estimated that in the United States, 37 million people go hungry daily, and of those, 13 million are children.
Augusta State University student Kenya Waltower will present a study giving insight to malnutrition and other factors that may influence diminished learning potential in children at the 8th annual Student Research and Fine Arts Conference. The conference, which will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at ASU, is sponsored by the ASU Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
The conference will begin at 11 a.m. in 170 University Hall with a keynote address by David Boykin, a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University. The presentation, part of the panel Cognitions, will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Science Building.
