
Appropriations Committee Visits Augusta State
Dr. Emil K. Urban, chair, Department of Biology, speaks to members of the House Appropriations Committee during its three-day whirlwind tour of Augusta. Rep. Jack Connell brought the 50-member committee to Augusta to get a close-up look at several local institutions. After enjoying a fried chicken dinner under the portico of the Performing Arts Theatre, the legislators toured the old and the new science buildings. Dr. Urban gave an overview of the new facility and President William A. Bloodworth, Jr. talked about ASU's construction history. Five of Dr. Paul Harris's Political Science Club students welcomed the legislators. Costumed were Nedal Shawkat as George Washington, Robert Cooper as Uncle Sam, Chris Harrison as Jesse Ventura, Crystal Zoha as Martha Washington, Vann McNeill as Abraham Lincoln. Dr. Harris came as the Statue of Liberty.
