ASU Staff Advisory Council
Annual Toy Drive Begins November 5

Once again the Council is proud to sponsor the Annual Staff Toy Drive. Toys that are collected, or any tax-deductible monetary donation, will go directly to the Shelter and Advocacy Center for Abused Children. This drive will begin on Monday, November 5, and end on Friday, December 14.

Each department interested in participating is asked to call Max Brown in the Physical Plant at extension 1590 to order a collection bin. The bins, which should be decorated with a holiday theme, will be judged and the winner will be announced during our Campus Holiday Luncheon. Also a board game for the Shelter will be donated in their name.

“Each year this wonderful worthwhile campus activity has made a difference in so many children’s holiday seasons. This is one project that everyone can enjoy getting involved in” said Patty Waggy, chair. Tim Dobbs is working with the shelter to have a wish list from the children; when this is received, a campus e-mail will be sent.

Please join us once again in making a child’s holidays a little more special.

Will my retirement now be enough when I am ready to use it? Have you found yourself asking this – would you like more information? The SAC will present a Retirement & Investment Information Session on November 12th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm in the Butler Lecture Hall. All Faculty and Staff members are encouraged to attend. The Personnel Office has arranged for one of our campus representatives to discuss the supplemental retirement programs that are available and answer our questions. This is a great time to start looking at the new year and how your money can work for you!

The Council would also like to welcome the following new staff members to our campus who have been hired during the month of October. Please join us in making them feel right at home!

Another community event that Staff Council is sponsoring is the Children’s Play House Raffle. These tickets are $10 and will be on sale November 14. All proceeds go to the Augusta Child Advocates, Inc. These are two custom built playhouses made by Papa’s Playhouses and would make anyone’s Wish List! Last year, SAC members sold the two winning tickets for these playhouses! So call on your council representative – you could be the next winner.

The council is also working on an open forum for all staff members. This will be in the early spring and will give the staff an opportunity to ask questions, make comments, etc., to the administration. More information will be forthcoming the first of next year.

There are quite a few projects that the council is working on and our thanks go to all faculty, staff and students who participate. Please do not hesitate to contact your representative if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Our meetings are always open, and we welcome all who would like to attend.
