KNIT's Goals

Knowledge Integrated (KNIT) has four major goals, each consisting of three specific student learning outcomes that will be used to measure the program’s effectiveness during the five-year implementation. These goals and outcomes are described in detail in the QEP document.

In plain terms, students who participate in KNIT courses will:

  • Understand how each of the core disciplines contributes to human knowledge and society
  • Better understand how historical events have shaped today’s values and ideas
  • Better recognize the relevance of historical issues and discipline-specific inquiry to their own lives and experiences
  • Feel more connected to a campus intellectual community united by its shared knowledge about important people, texts, and events
  • Better appreciate the pleasures of intellectual conversation outside the classroom
  • Better understand the personal benefits of a college education beyond the basic concern to obtain a degree and a job
