old CETCCounseling Education Training Center Building Razed
The old building housing the College of Education's Counseling Education Training Center (CETC) on McDowell Street was razed Wednesday, August 29. The cost of renovating the structure was too prohibitive, says Kathy Hamrick, special assistant to the president for architectural and master planning. "Eventually, a new building will be constructed on the site, which will reflect the style of the surrounding neighborhood," says Dr. Hamrick. Until then, she noted, it will be beautifully landscaped. CETC will move into the former psychology lab building, located next to the Central Energies Plant, following its renovation. Currently, it is housed at Safe Homes in Augusta.

Military Science Recognizes Cadets
On August 22 the Department of Military Science recognized cadets who had successfully completed Camp Challenge and the Advanced Camp course during the summer. The new cadet chain of command was announced, and senior cadets were presented with gold lieutenant bars, which they will carry until their commissioning date.

Faculty-Staff Fall Golf Tournament
Seventy-two golfers participated in the annual Faculty-Staff Fall Golf Tournament, held Friday, August 24, at ASU's Forest Hills Golf Course. "This is an increase over last year," said Fred Barnabei, vice president for business and student services. "I hope everyone who played had a good time and are looking forward to next year."

Other team members and good sports include Harold Moon, emeriti faculty, Quentin Kuyper, fine arts, and Alan Whaley, physical plant. "This is a fun tournament, and people come out to have a good time," says Dr. Barnabei.
