Bill Bompart, academic
affairs, made a presentation at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Western Regional Conference in Laramie, Wyoming, on Applications
of Mathematics.
Martin
David Jones, fine arts, performed a solo piano
recital as part of the Spoleto Festival in Charleston.
Norm Prinsky,
languages, literature and communications, published a multi-page article on
George Gascoigne in a two volume reference set Encyclopedia
of Literary Critics and Criticism by publisher
Fitzroy Dearborn. He also published three articles in the reference set Critical
Survey of Short Fiction, Second Revised Edition
titled Aldous Huxley
(vol. 3), Amos Oz
(vol. 5), and Virginia Woolf
(vol. 6).
Ed
Cashin, Center for the Study of Georgia History,
gave a presentation at the Georgia Historical Society in Savannah on Bethesda,
the Home for Boys founded by Rev. George Whitefield
in 1740. His presentation was
taped by Peach State Public Radio, and it will be broadcast during September.
Joyce
Jones, student affairs, has been selected to
participate in Leadership Augusta, a sponsored program of the Metro Augusta
Chamber of Commerce.
Huber van Tuyll,
history and anthropology, published his third book, The
Netherlands and World War I: Espionage, Diplomacy, and Survival.
The book was issued by Brill, a Dutch publishing house.
Emamuddin
Hoosain, teacher education, participated in
a National Council of Teachers of Mathematics workshop. Navigating
Paths to Develop Algebraic Understanding in
Grades 6 - 8 in Atlanta. He also completed Council
of Chief State School Officers training, which qualifies him to evaluate mathematics
teachers' portfolios.
Paul Gustafson, kinesiology and health science, served as line judge at the International Badminton Federation World Championships in Seville, Spain.
Jasper Cooke,
public safety, earned a certificate from the Georgia Law Enforcement Command
College, held recently at Savannah. He also was selected as a district representative
for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
