Do I need a decal to park on campus?

Yes, all motorized vehicles parked on ASU campus must display a current parking decal (or a current temporary permit).

 

Where can I purchase a decal?

Parking decals may be purchased from the parking office in the Public Safety building Monday-Friday.

 

How often do I need to buy a decal?

Decals only need to be purchased once an academic year. If you purchase a decal fall semester, you do not need to purchase another decal (for the same vehicle) for spring or summer semesters. Student decals expire July 31 st at the end of each academic year.

 

How much does a decal cost?

The cost of a decal is set by the administration each academic year and will be posted on the web by the middle of the summer semester.

 

When will I need to have a current decal on my vehicle?

Parking decals must be properly affixed to the vehicle by the end of the first week of the semester.

 

How do I affix a decal to my vehicle?

Decals should be affixed to the outside lower left corner of the driver’s side rear window. If you vehicle does not have a back glass, affix the decal to the rear bumper of the vehicle on the driver’s side. Decals on motorcycles should be affixed to a front fork leg or to the rear of the vehicle.

 

I am an evening student do I need a decal?

Yes.

 

Are graduate and alumni students required to have a decal?

Yes. Graduate and alumni students attending classes are required to obtain a current parking decal.

 

My vehicle is in the shop and I am driving a vehicle without a decal what do I do?

Temporary decals are issued free of charge to students who have previously purchased a current decal. Temporary decals are limited to a two-week period.

 

What do I do if I buy a new vehicle?

Parking is allowed in lots without a decal when a dealer plate is on the vehicle. Once the actual car plate is on the vehicle it must be registered with parking services before parking in any lots. Do not park and go to class before registering the vehicle as you may be ticketed for not having a current decal.

 

Where can I park?

Students must park in designated student lots and overflow lots. However, students may park in faculty/staff lots between 4:30pm until 6:30am. Students may NOT park in visitor lots. Students may park in handicap spaces if they are disabled and have a current student decal and a valid handicap plate or hangtag. Handicap plates and hangtags must be registered to the student. Applications for State handicap decals are available in the parking office. Note: It is a violation of state law to park in a handicapped space unless you are the person with the physical disability.

 

Where do I pay a parking fine?

ASU parking fines may be paid in the parking office or the business office. Fines issued by Richmond County Sheriff’s Department must be paid at the Law Enforcement Center at 401 Walton Way.

 

How do I appeal a parking ticket?

Tickets may be appealed to the Student Government Judicial Cabinet within five (5) business days inclusive of the date the ticket was written. Ticket must be paid prior to appealing. Appeals forms are available in the parking office or online.

 

Am I required to attend the appeals meeting?

No. Notification of decision will be mailed to you after the judicial cabinet hears your appeal and makes a decision.

 

What will happen if I do not pay my ticket?

Individuals who have received three tickets and have neglected to respond either by appeal or payment will be placed on a tow/immobilization list. A fourth ticket may result in the vehicle being towed or immobilized by a car boot.

 

 

 

 

 

Did you know?

Bicycles do not require decals for parking. Bicycles must be parked in bicycle racks and a lock is recommended to deter possible theft.

Parking decals are non-transferable. A separate decal must be purchased for each vehicle.

 

Replacement decals are issued free of charge in the parking office for sold, traded, or wrecked vehicles ONLY if original decal is returned to the parking office.

 

All vehicles parked illegally will be ticketed. This includes motorcycles parking near building entrances or on the grass.

 

Additonal Information

Posted speed limits must be observed: Parking lots 10 mph, and all other areas, 15 mph, unless otherwise posted. Pedestrians have the right-of-way and caution must be exercised at all times while driving on campus.


Driver’s involved in any accident on campus resulting in the injury to, or death of, any person, or damage to any property of another shall immediately stop their vehicle at the scene of the accident. The persons involved should remain at the scene of the accident until Public Safety arrives and completes their investigation.

 

Public Safety provides jump-start for dead batteries, Lock-Jock when keys are locked in the vehicle, escorts to and from classes, first aid, crime prevention information, safety training, after hours access to locked buildings and lost and found property locker services.
