Orientation Checklist

Get ready to make the most of your orientation by reviewing what you should do before you pack your bags. Below we have put together Orientation Checklists for Freshman and Transfer Students. Please select which orientation checklist is right for you. Freshman Student Orientation or Transfer Student Orientation

Freshman Student Orientation Checklist

Pre-Orientation

  • Complete the COMPASS Placement Exam.
    • Call the Office of Testing and Disability Services at 706-737-1469 to schedule your test or to get any question you may have answered.
  • Complete your immunization form and send to the Office of Admissions.
    • If it will not arrive in time for your Orientation, please bring your paperwork with you on the day of your Orientation.
  • Gather all information received from Financial Aid to bring with you to Orientation.
    • Contact the Office of Financial Aid at 706-737-1431, if you have any questionsprior to Orientation. Individual Financial Aid Counselors will be available on the day of Orientation.
  • Review August State University’s website (www.aug.edu) and jot down any specific questions you may want to ask at Orientation.

During Orientation

  • Check-In at Orientation Check-In
    • Families/Guests Check-In and pay the $10.00 Registration Fee.
  • Attend all scheduled sessions, take notes and write down questions for your Orientation
  • Leader.
  • Meet with your Academic Advisor or Faculty Advisor, write down their contact
  • information or get their business card.
    • Do not leave academic advisement until you have a list of suggested courses to take for that semester.
  • An Orientation Leader will take you to the Registration Lab either in Galloway or Allgood Hall.
    • In order to check-out of the Registration Lab you must have the following:
      • Detailed Schedule
      • University Bill
      • Parking Permit Confirmation
      • Evaluation Confirmation
  • Pick-Up your Parking Permit.
  • Turn in your Evaluation Confirmation for your first FREE JAGUAR T-SHIRT!
  • Attend Financial Aid Central in University Hall, Room 162 if necessary.
  • Pick-Up your JagCard in Room 236 of the Jaguar Student Activities Center.
  • Visit the Bookstore, if you are ready to purchase your books.
  • Visit University Village, if interested.

Post Orientation

  • Check your JagMail (ASU Email Account) at least twice a week.
  • Look up your courses on http://www.aug.edu/advising/whrclass.htm to navigate your first week at ASU. Walk the campus to locate your classes for the first day.
  • Email your Orientation Leader if you have any questions you forgot to ask at Orientation.
  • Make sure you have all of your textbooks and other required items for classes.
  • Join the entire campus at What’s the Scoop? …first day of classes in the Jaguar Student Activities Center! Look at your program guide to plan your co-curricular activities.

Transfer Student Checklist

Before Orientation
