Orientation @ ASU

Where do I check-in for Orientation? [MAP]
Check-in for Orientation begins at 9 a.m. at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre, where you and your family are invited to attend a complimentary continental breakfast. Once you have eaten, you will proceed to check-in with the Orientation Staff. Here, you will receive your nametag and an ASU tote bag containing information about Housing, Tuition, Student Services and other pertinent information.

Where do I park during Orientation? [MAP]
Available parking areas are designated on the campus map (link above). Please note that classes will still be in session during Orientation, so please be advised though parking may not be available in all designated areas. However, your parking pass allows you to park anywhere you find an available space.

What do I need to bring to Orientation?
Students attending Orientation will need to bring the following items:
  • Unofficial Transcripts (Transfer Students only!)

  • Completed work schedules, if available, will help in choosing a convenient class schedule.

  • Any documents that Financial Aid has provided.

  • Money to pay for courses and books that your financial aid does not cover.

  • Notebook and pen/pencil.

  • Umbrella (Georgia weather is highly unpredictable!)

  • State-issued photo ID (Very important!)

  • Comfortable clothing and shoes for touring campus.

Parents and guests will need to bring the following items:

  • Comfortable clothing and shoes (a jacket or sweater is also recommended)

  • Notebook and pen/pencil.

  • Umbrella (Georgia weather is highly unpredictable!)

  • Spending/emergency money (a Wachovia ATM is located in the foyer of the Jaguar Student Center)

Are parents required to attend Orientation?

Parents are not required to attend; however, most choose to do so.

Will I be able to register for classes at Orientation?
Students who have been admitted to the university and have completed all of their placement tests (Call the Testing Center @ 706-737-1469) are eligible to register for courses during orientation. Students must first visit an academic advisor in their academic advising department (there will be a designated time for advising on Orientation days) for selection of fall semester classes. Orientation Leaders will be available in each lab to help with registration. When registration is complete, students may print a fee statement, listing all pertinent tuition costs and fees.

Do I have to pay my tuition and fees at Orientation?
A short payment seminar will be presented during main Orientation.
