I would like to welcome all of you to ASU! We are excited to have you on campus and look forward to a great year. You will find ASU to be a student-friendly campus with a positive environment for learning. The faculty are eager to assist you. Our mission is predicated on teaching and learning with an emphasis on the student.
There are many opportunities to get involved in campus life, and I strongly encourage you to do so. The easiest way to get involved is to visit the office of Student Activities in the Jaguar Student Activities Center. Eddie Howard, the Director of Student Activities and his staff can tell you about the 60 clubs and organizations on campus that would have to have you join. You can also start a new club and develop lasting personal and professional relationships. You will find the student body is friendly and ready to welcome you to the ASU family.
I do hope you will take advantage of all campus life, focusing first on your classes and making satisfactory academic progress, and then, participating fully in all of the fun activities and educational and cultural events that ASU has to offer.
If you have questions or want to share suggestions with me, please stop by Bellevue Hall and visit. I hope to see you around campus at a PIG OUT or a performance at Maxwell Theatre or at volleyball or basketball games at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Have a great year!
Sincerely,
Joyce Jones
Vice President for Student Services
and Dean of Students
