  • How do I know that the classes I take while abroad will count towards my degree?
Only your advisor can tell you exactly how the classes will count towards your degree.  You should schedule an appointment with your advisor and talk to him or her about this.  The study abroad office can give you information about the classes too.
  • Can I use my financial aid or HOPE towards the cost of my trip?
Yes, all financial aid can be applied to study abroad.  You will need to schedule an appointment with Roxanne Padgett in the financial aid office to talk about your individual circumstances.
  • I have a full time job and family, can I still go on study abroad?
ASU has many different programs.  Our shortest programs are 2 weeks and our longest programs run for an entire semester.  There are programs for every schedule, so come by the office.
  • How much does study abroad cost?
All programs are different prices, so you can look at the individual program site.  Most programs do not include tuition in the price, so you will have to pay the tuition payment as well.  You will also need spending money while abroad.
  • Is study abroad safe?
We carefully consider safety when planning programs.  You should look at the state department website for all safety information for a particular country.
  • Will I need a visa to go abroad?  Will I need shots and special medicine?
Everyone who travels abroad will need a passport.  Different countries have different entry requirements, so your individual program director will let you know if you need a visa.  Visa costs are the student’s responsibility unless otherwise noted.  Students who do not have US passports should double check the entry requirements of their study abroad country to ensure they do not need a visa.  You should consult your individual physician to receive medical advice about travel.  You can also look at the Center for Disease Control travel pages to see their recommendations for travel.
