Important Information

Please read carefully, the following information is valid for all trips.

  • The items included in the program itinerary are included in the cost of the program, unless otherwise noted.
  • Program fees must be paid by published deadlines.  If students fail to make payments on their trips they will be dropped for non payment.
  • Other items are additional costs and are at the expense of the students.  These include passport and visa fees, transportation to and from the Atlanta airport (or any departure airport), meals not provided by the program, souvenirs and any items bought at the traveler's discretion, and all other expenses incurred by students while abroad, including but not limited to phone calls, transportation, etc.
  • ASU has teamed up with a company called Piccell Wireless to be able to offer you reasonably priced mobile phone service. For $19.90 you can rent a Tri-band handset (this includes a handset, SIM card and free mailing to return the handset after your trip). For full details and to order visit:
    www.piccellwireless.com/augusta
  • You will need a valid passport to go on this trip - this can take a number of weeks to obtain. Visit the US State Dept website for more information. The study abroad office accepts no responsibility for student's passports and visas. Passport copies are taken for the express purpose of providing a copy in the case of a missing or stolen passport. Students are responsible for checking the state department website for information on passport rules and regulations and complying with these rules.
  • In cases where students need visas for programs students are individually responsible for these visas, unless they are required by the program and provided in the program costs.
  • All information on the study abroad website is subject to change at any time.
  • Program itineraries may be amended by the study abroad office when necessary.
  • Students who are on probation or suspended will not be able to apply for programs unless they sign a waiver for the program.  Please see the study abroad advisor for this form.
  • All students are required to have an appointment with our study abroad advisor in order to be given all information about the study abroad trip and to sign forms.
  • All students will be required to attend a study abroad orientation.  Students will be advised of the times and dates of these orientations during their appointment with the study abroad advisor.
  • All payments made to study abroad are non refundable.
  • Study abroad will attempt to honor all roommate preferences, but in some circumstances this will not be possible.
  • If you give us a paper check to make your payment, your check may be converted into an electronic fund transfer. By sending your completed, signed check to us, you authorize us to copy your check and to use the account information from your check to make an electronic fund transfer from your account for the same amount as the check.

The electronic fund transfer from your account will usually occur within 24 hours, which is faster than a check is normally processed. Therefore, make sure there are sufficient funds available in your checking account when you send us your check. If the electronic fund transfer cannot be completed because of insufficient funds, we may try to make the transfer two additional times

The electronic fund transfer from your account will be on the account statement you receive from your financial institution. However, the transfer may be in a different place on your statement than the place where your checks normally appear. For example, it may appear under "other withdrawals" or "other transactions." You will not receive your original check back from your financial institution. For security reasons we will destroy your original check, but we will keep a copy of the check for recordkeeping purposes.

You should contact your financial institution immediately if you believe that the electronic fund transfer reported on your account statement was not properly authorized or is otherwise incorrect. Consumers have protections under a Federal law called the Electronic Fund Transfer Act for an unauthorized or incorrect electronic fund transfer.
