Endorsements

Reading Endorsement: In order to add the Reading Endorsement, the student must hold initial certification in a teaching field. The required graduate course for the Reading Endorsement are:

  • EDTD 6120 - Basic Instruction in Literacy
  • EDTD 6222 - Current Best Practices in Literacy
  • EDTD 6223 - Applications of Effective Reading Strategies

Mathematics Endorsement: Initial certification in a P-5 teaching field is required in order to add the Math Endorsement. Teachers seeking the Math Endorsement need a clear renewable teaching certificate, level 4 or higher, and a minimum of one year of teaching experience. The required graduate courses for this endorsement are:

  • MATH 6341 - Early Childhood Mathematics I
  • MATH 6342 - Mathematics for Early Childhood Teachers II
  • ECED 6343 - K-5 Mathematics Endorsement: Capstone

Gifted Education Endorsement: Certification as a teacher of gifted students required twelve (12) semester hours of graduate work. Students take the following courses:

  • EDUC 6040 - Tests and Measurements for Educational Leaders
  • EDUC 6271 - Identifying Outstanding Talents and Potentials in Students
  • EDUC 6272 - Developing Outstanding Talents and Potentials in Students
  • EDUC 6273 - Curriculum and Program Design For Developing Talents

In order to add the Teacher Support Specialist Endorsement, the teacher must hold initial certification in a teaching field. The required courses are:

  • EDLR 7110 - Supervision for Teacher Support Specialist
