I attended public schools in New York and went on to the University of South Carolina. I graduated from U of SC in 1973 with a BS in Secondary Social Studies. Started teaching in South Carolina in 1984. It was the next year when I entered Graduate School at U of SC and graduated with an IMA in Social Science Education. Went to the University of Georgia in 1991 and pursued an EdD in Social Science Education, which was awarded in 1994. The degree was granted for a dissertation based on The History of School Desegregation in South Carolina. I have taught at UGA, Penn State, and ASU.
