I am a native Augustan, and I received my baccalaureate degree in English Education from Mercer University in Macon Georgia. My masters and specialist degrees in education administration and supervision were both received from Augusta State University when there was a Butler Hall and Smith Corona typewriters. I retired from the public school system after thirty one years of service
-- eighteen years total as a high school teacher at Hephzibah High School and Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, and thirteen years total in administration as principal at Tubman and Spirit Creek Middle Schools.
Transitioning to Augusta State and the Teacher Education Department was quite easy for me because I still got to do what I loved, which continues to be interacting with pre-service teachers and middle school students; I’m a true advocate for the often misunderstood middle school adolescent.! When not engaged in educational pursuits fostering middle grades education, I enjoy family, writing, and allowing the “frustrated artist” in me to surface with a paint brush and acrylics.
