I graduated from Burke County High School in 1990 and then entered the U.S. Army where I served for six years. While in the military I worked as a Military Police K-9 officer for four years and then as an Instructor at the U.S. Army Air Assault School. During my time in Army I had the honor of serving in the 3rd Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division. After leaving the military I utilized the G. I. Bill to attend Augusta State University (ASU) where I majored in History and minored in Secondary Education. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in 1999 I began working at Burke County Middle School. I continued to work there for five years and then I transferred to Burke County High School where I taught U.S. History and Advanced Placement U.S. History. After beginning work in the Burke County school system I began working on my Master’s in Education at Georgia Southern University (GSU). After receiving this degree I returned to ASU to obtain my Education Specialist. After graduating I decided to return to GSU to begin work on my Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Studies and I completed this degree in 2007. I also began working as a part-time faculty member at ASU in 2007. Also, I have given presentations at the 2006 and 2007 Journal of Curriculum Theorizing Bergamo Conference in Dayton, OH and the GA Educational Research Association 2006 Conference in Savannah. I have been married for twelve years to my wife Paula and we have two daughters, Abbi (8) and Emma (5). We are also expecting a son at the beginning of September.
