Swedish Exchange Students Visit PDS
This past semester, Augusta State University had the opportunity to host two exchange students from Mid Sweden University, Terese Blomqvist and Madelene Bergman. Terese and Madeline were afforded the opportunity to fulfill their requirements as practical trainees by visiting schools in the Augusta area. This experience is very similar to our student’s required lab experiences.
Terese and Madelene observed in 18 different schools in Georgia and South Carolina and had the opportunity to teach about Sweden and Swedish History in the some of the schools. The two students observed in elementary, middle and high schools as well as two private schools. They gained many valuable ideas that they plan to incorporate in their classrooms when they become teacher.
Their visit was a part of an international cooperative exchange program developed between the two universities in order that ASU students might visit Swedish schools and in turn Swedish students might visit schools in the Augusta Area. The Department of Teacher Education and several of its students spent two weeks in the Spring of 2008 visiting schools in Sweden, Holland, and Belgium as part of this exchange.
