Training Triad Meeting
February 4, 2000

Present: Mary Filpus-Luyckx, Maureen Akins, Bill Gray, Ron Weber, David White, Randle Berlin

Topics and Discussion:
The Wall - Each Director is going to contribute $800 to construct the wall. David will send diagram for construction to Ron. Ron is going to coordinate with Physical Plant for the construction.

Mary will bring a dry eraser and see if that will help the Smartboard work.

Bill will check on a lower cart for the projector.

David to place a copy of the inventory listing into the fastapps area. Ron talked about need for historical records for SACS.

Jeff Heck, Library, using Center for Dreamweaver classes - posted on Triad claendar and listed with Cont. Ed.

Ron - Wireless network hub to be installed in the Center to allow faculty/staff to use laptops in wireless mode.

Randle - Triad listserv was having a problem and Randle has re-subscribed everyone. Randle is trying to update the Training link from the Staff Training page All -Please send him any information, such as web links, to training information.>

Maureen - Dreamweaver upgrades to version 3 - P.O. to Gayle Davidson, Computer Services, coming from Maureen's budget.

Discussion about software upgrades and licensing, what training do we want to give for newer packages, etc. Discussions about Dreamweaver, FrontPage,

Ron - Between now and July 1, 4 labs will be upgraded to office 2000 professional. BH4, PEAC 9, some HH6, 3rd floor lobby of the Library.
MH2, MH10, Writing Lab next set after 1 July
LibLobby, Psych Lab after that
FAST Center?
Board of Regents now standardized on Office.
Licensing too expensive to support two office suites. Faculty members can purchase themselves. But overtime support will diminish. Word coming up in computer Svcs training schedule.

Randle - Advertising training discussion - on Triad calendar - for special classes add
(Customized for Library) or something similar.
Mary - should we develop our own survey instrument? Ron - Web based would be best

Randle - Saturday classes? Maureen will send Randle a copy of the training survey that she had done on paper, so that Faculty and staff can be polled. Randle thought possibly stringing a series of classes together with other trainers on that day.

Randle who knows Access?? Some Jeff Heck and David. He's had some requests for classes. David will ask Jeff if he will give one.

Randle and Mary - Absenteeism discussion - Randle - charge $35 for class. If they show up they don't get charged. If they don't show up, then charge them. Need to ask the Directors how they feel about this.

Maureen - using books as door prizes. Randle - can get coupons from the Bookstore for 15% off the quick ref cards or books related to the class topic.
