Film Screening - Breasts: A Documentary
Thusday, February 21st at 8pm
University Hall room 224

Directed by Meema Spadola, this hour-long documentary consists of interviews with twenty-two women - ages 6 to 84 - discussing how breasts play a crucial role in the experiences of puberty, motherhood, sex, health, and aging. Interspersed throughout the documentary are segments of breast-related archival footage including a racy 1920s animated cartoon, a 1950s beauty pageant, and a 1970s bra commercial.
This event is hosted by the Women's Studies Student Association and everyone is welcome. If you have any Breast-related poetry, you are invited to read it as well.
For more information, please contact the WSSA president Ula Gaha at ugaha@aug.edu or the WSSA sponser Dr. Launius at claunius@aug.edu.
Film Series: Offside
Monday, March 10th at 7pm
Girls just want to have fun — and cheer their team at a World Cup soccer event. But that's not easy in Iran, where women are banned from public sporting events. Those caught sneaking in are detained by bewildered boy soldiers in “Offside,” Jafar Panahi's wonderfully funny, outspoken film. Carrie Rickey of “The Philadelphia Inquirer” called the film “exhilarating, exuberant and drolly funny.” This film is being screened both in honor of Women's Awareness Week and the Sociology program.
For more information, please contact Leza Witherington in the Department of Communications & Professional Writing at

Film Screening - Fly Girls
Wednesday, March 19th at 7:30
Butler Meeting Room (JSAC, second floor)

Fly Girls is the largely unknown story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). The film features a remarkable group of former WASPs who recall the planes they flew, the challenges they met, and the pride they felt in playing a role in the American war effort. As women's place in the US military continues to evolve, the story of these female pioneers is more relevant than ever.
