What is the Science Olympiad?
The Science Olympiad is a national event that seeks to enhance science education through events that test students' understanding and application of science. Teams of up to 15 students compete in 23 events that cover all aspects of science that is typically covered in either a middle school or a high school curriculum. Most events require that two students compete as a team. There are separate divisions for middle schools and high schools.
When are the competitions held?
Regional events are usually held on a Saturday in February or early March on a university campus, and the national event is in mid May.
Augusta State University will host the Georgia State Middle School Competition
on Saturday, 25 March, 2006. Approximately 150 people from both the community
and ASU will be involved in the running of the events, and 28 teams from
all over teh state will participate. Dr.
