HONR 3900: Natural Disasters
Real and imagined natural forces have shaped the the history of mankind by altering the landscape on which humans have lived, the psyche of the people that lived there, and the beliefs held by generations of inhabitants. The enhanced communication of the 20th Century and beyond has shared images of events with all of mankind, not just those in a particular region of the planet. How has our knowledge and experience of natural disasters (past and present) shaped our planet and societies? We'll explore this and other ideas in this Honors class.
