MODERN WORLD CIVILIZATION: Instructions for using the Lecture files |
[Links at bottom of page]
Special Note if you are using the NO FRAMES version of the contents: after reviewing a lecture, simply click on the BACK button of your browser to get back to the CONTENTS.
Instructions
1. The Lecture Files are on the website for YOUR BENEFIT. If you would like some more background on a subject; if you have questions; if you want to learn more about issues that interest you; then the Lecture Files can help.
2. Please note that
a. The lecture files are the notes on which my presentations are based, not the actual presentations themselves.
b. In some places, a topic is covered in just a few words without explanatory detail, which will be provided in class.
c. In other places, there is a great deal of detail that is there for reference and background: you will not necessarily be required to know all of that detail.
d. the Lecture Files are not updated, so some of the information may be out of date, or no longer tied directly to a class lecture.
6. HOW TO USE THE LECTURE FILES:
a. Click on the link labelled Lectures, below.
b. On the left side of the page, you will see a table of contents.
c. At the beginning of the Contents, there are listed the 8 Units, A through H.
d. Click on the Unit that you want to go to. This will take you to the part of the Contents where the detailed contents for that Unit are located. (You can scroll if you prefer, but this takes longer).
e. Click on the subtopic that you want to study. It will appear on the right side of the page (EXCEPTION: see following Instruction 'f').
f. Don't worry if the subtopic you want doesn't show up. In some places, I have put several subtopics on a single 'page' so you will first see a subtopic that comes before the one you want. When you click on a subtopic, ALL the subtopics that are grouped together on that page will change color in the contents. If this happens,
* You can scroll down to what you need, or
* use the FIND utility. First, click on EDIT at the top of the page. Then click on FIND. Type in the name of the subunit you're looking for, click on OK {in some versions it's labelled FIND or SEARCH} and you'll wind up on the point in the page that you need.
g. You may copy material on the Lecture pages for your own use.
