WHO WE ARE
The Georgia Association for Women in Education (GAWE) was founded over 50 years ago as the
Georgia Association of Women Deans, Administrators, and Counselors, an affiliate of the
national association, NADAC, founded in 1916. Growing and evolving over the years to
meet the challenges wrought by the changing roles of women in society and in education,
GAWE is a professional organization committed to expanding and enhancing educational
opportunities, programs, and services for women in the public and private sector.
With a focus on higher education, GAWE, an affiliate of the National
Association for Women in Education, also provides leadership training and
opportunities for women.
