Postcard – Bay Street

“To begin with, Bay street
originally extended to East
Boundary, with homes all the
way facing the river, a road, a
walk and trees. So my mother
told me…” (p.1)

“But the faithful old “Katie” made her
regular arrival on Friday afternoon. My
mother said she was the second
“Katie”, the first having burned but her
steel hull was salvaged and she was
rebuilt on it. The “Katie” was a matronly
old dame; fat, forty, and if not ungainly,
certainly she was not sprightly nor
lissome.” (p.36)
