| 3.1: Scope and Content: | Adams writes about the history of the White House and its role in the surrender of the British Commander on June 5 1781. Adams claims during a renovation of the house during the Spanish American War that his sister Mrs. George C. McWhorter collected revolutionary artifacts from the site. These consisted of bullets, bayonets, swords and guns. Adams maintains that his sister loaned her collection for an exposition by ‘the Jamestown organization’ and the collection was never returned or seen again after it had been on public display. The transcriptions have a post script added by Mrs. Thomas vouching for Mr. Adams authority. The White House is known now as the Ezekiel Harris House. |
