3.1: Scope and Content: Material covers documentation of a grant to fund a series of events to commemorate the anniversary of a historical court ruling. The material consists of 5 folders covering the grant application and award of the grant, general correspondence in arranging the series of events, historical background, photocopies of newspaper articles deemed relevant to the project, publicity materials and photographs.

2.7: Administrative / Biographical History: This material was donated to Special Collections by Dr. Edward J. Cashin while serving as Director of the Center for the Study of Georgia History. The material documents a grant that was used to stage the event The Centennial of the Supreme Court Decision in the Ware High School Case (Cumming et al. vs. County Board of Education of Richmond county 1899) The Case that Established the Separate but Equal Treatment of the Races. October 19 through October 22 1999. Dr Morgan Kousser, California Technical Institute, an authority on the Ware Case presented two lectures, the first on October 19, 1999 in Augusta State University’s Butler Lecture Hall. Judge Ellen Connally, Cleveland Ohio and Professor Paul Finkelman, Tulsa University; both descendents of plaintiffs in the original case, participated in this event. A second lecture was presented on October 20, 1999 at the Augusta-Richmond County Museum. This was followed by the unveiling of a historical marker commemorating Ware High School. A third program was presented at the Paine College Odeum on October 21, 1999. A play, based on the Ware High School Decision of 1899, entitled Ware and When, written by Dr. James Garvey, Augusta State University, was preformed at Davidson Fine Arts School on October 21 and 22 1999. The performers were students of Davidson Fine Arts School
