Folder 1 — Older family photographs (9) Of interest here are two tintypes; one of a portrait of a man with a cigar, the other of two men and two women in formal dress, a picture; possibly of Edison Marshall at three or four years of age, two studio photographs of Edison Marshall possibly in his late teens or early twenties, a photograph of Edison Marshall’s birthplace inscribed on the back “The printing office the Rensselaer Republican; Vern, Lucile and I were born upstairs. Also Aunt Jessies studio.” (this may account for the family photographs bearing the Bartoo Studios imprint. Marshall’s mother was a Bartoo and Aunt Jessie appears to have been a professional photographer), and a sheet with two photographs of a child named Jessie Hope with what may be a memorial poem written on the sheet.
