Box: Manuscripts and Scrap Books
- Undated Clip-O-Log scrapbook that contains newspaper clippings, poems, announcements or fliers, photos, and a few telegrams.
- The record of my Ancestry. An old scrapbook containing pictures and some papers pertaining to the Cumming family.
- Recollections of My Family, By Mary Gairdner Cumming. A typed recollection of her family history and of her life.
- Scrapbook of K. H. Cumming. This book contains mostly cut-outs from newspapers, such as articles, stories, poems and pictures.
- 1918. “For Bryan Cumming,” a scrapbook done by K. H. Cumming. This scrapbook contains many letters to Mrs. Cumming and some of her writings, there are also pictures and drawings towards the back.

Folder: 1946, 1947, 1959, 1961
- December 14, 1946 and February 25, 1949.
There are two copies of the document from February 25, 1949. These documents described the family motto, crest, and arms. Also included are documents detailing the history of the family name, a drawing of the family crest, the family tartam, and various spellings of the family name.
- Two copies of documents dated December 14, 1946 that detail the origin of the Gairdner family name, crest, motto, arms, etc. One detailing the same items, but dated February 25, 1949.
- Two documents, dated February 25, 1949 and November 18, 1947 respectively. These detail the origin of the Gordon family name. Also included are several copies of the family crest.
- Two letters from Scott Adie, dated July 17, 1959 and October 29, 1963 respectively, regarding a request from Cumming for his family tartan and some background information on the tartan and the family.
- February 1, 1961. A letter from Mrs. Cumming to Mrs. Stanley requesting her services in regards to her daughter’s application to get into the Colonial Dames.
- February 4, 1961. A short letter from Mrs. Stanley to Mrs. Cumming regarding the research for the application.
- February 10, 1961. A short note from Mrs. Stanley to Mrs. Cumming regarding the research done for the Colonial Dames application.
- February 15, 1961. A short letter from Mrs. Stanley to Mrs. Cumming requesting Photostats of bible records needed to document her lineage.
- February 27, 1961. A letter to Mrs. Stanley from Mrs. Cumming regarding the requested information for Ms. Cumming’s application for the Colonial Dames. The letter has been partially crossed out.
- March 2, 1961. A letter from Joseph Cumming to The Bureau Of Vital Statistics requesting the record of marriage between Annie Langdon Gardner and Daniel Morgan Taylor.
- March 3, 1961. A letter from Joseph Cumming to The Bureau of Vital Statistics requesting the record of marriage between Virginia Sims to Frank Taylor. Also included is the response letter from the Bureau of Vital Statistics stating that Mr. Cumming would need to contact the State Office to find the information he requested.
- March 4, 1961. A delayed Certificate of Birth for Virginia Burum. Also included is a copy.
- March 5, 1961. Three copies of a paper regarding the authenticity of specific parts of his family tree.
- March 6, 1961. A letter from Spencer Connerat Jr. regarding some entries into his great-great grandmother’s diary. Also included are two copies of a family tree, and a copy of the epitaphs on Anne Cumming with a certificate of authenticity.
- March 8, 1961. A letter from Augusta Clay to Mr. Cumming regarding research about Elias Legardner parents.
- A letter from Emily Ravenel to Mr. Cumming regarding research for the record of the Legardner family tree. There is also a P.S dated March 11, 1961, giving Mr. Cumming more information for his research.
- March 9, 1961. A letter from Mrs. Stanley to Mrs. Cumming regarding Ms. Cummings application for the Colonial Dames. Also included are copies of the application for Mrs. Cumming files.

- December 9, 1968. A letter from the National Army Museum to Mr. Cumming regarding donations by Mr. Cumming.
- December 12, 1968. A letter from the National Army Museum acknowledging the donation of three diaries by Lnt. Gairdner, and photographs.
- January 5, 1971. A letter from the National Army Museum regarding a donation of letters, and a photograph of the waterloo sword. The letters were between James Gairdner and his son, and the picture of the sword was not clear enough for positive identification.
- June 2, 1971. A letter from the National Army Museum to Mr. Cumming regarding the Waterloo sword and whether or not it is authentic.
- October 23, 1976. A letter from Mr. Walsh to Mr. Lee regarding the Harriss/Cumming family connection.
- November 21, 1977. A letter from Mr. Shaler Smith to Joseph Cumming regarding research into the Shaler/Smith family link. Also included is a copy Alexander Rose’s will, and photographs of tombs and historical markers.

- December 12, 1978. A letter from Shaler Smith to Mr. Cumming regarding the Rose Family and their connection to the Smith family.
- January 17. 1979. A letter from Shaler Smith to Mr. Cumming regarding papers that his Aunt Julia left him. Also included are several copies of several letters exchanged within the Gairdner Family.
- February 15, 1979. Two copies of a letter from Shaler Smith to Mr. Cumming in response to Mr. Cumming’s letter in which he asked many questions of a genealogical nature. Mr. Shaler in turn asked Mr. Cumming questions.
- April 30, 1979. A letter from Mr. Shaler to Mr. Cumming. Also included is a copy of John Gordon’s will, the obituary of Laura Benet, the abstract of Thomas Smith’s will, the genealogy of Anna Matt, the obituary of Mrs. James Gairdner, inscriptions on the tombstones of Mrs. Mary Gairdner, and the will of Edward Laight.
- May 17, 1979. A letter from Shaler Smith to Mr. Cumming. This letter is of more of a personal nature, but does include some research.
- July 18, 1979. A letter from Shaler Smith to Mr. Cumming. This letter details some new information discovered in the genealogical research.
- March 11, 1980. A letter from Mr. Smith to Mr. Cumming. The letter is of a mostly personal nature with reference to Shaler coat. Also include are a photo of Judge Charles, drawings of the Shaler coat of arms, excerpts from Marguerite Allen record’s, and an article entitled, “ the Judiciary of Allegheny County.”
- August 5, 1981. A letter from Susie, (Susan Watson) to “Cousin Gordon,” (Mr. Cumming?) regarding the names of many of Joanna Smith’s children obtained from a family bible.
- November 5, 1981. A letter from Mr. Banas to Mr. Cumming regarding information gathered by Leisle Buckingham. Also included are two letters to Bryan Cumming from Doyle Bryan requesting help tracing the Bryan family tree.
- October 31, 1978. A letter to Joe from Gordon.

- March 1837. The original and transcripts of two contracts between Joseph Rose and Elisha.
- December 6, 1858. Two copies of the tomb stone inscriptions for Joseph Bryan, Anne Bryan, and Juliana Buckingham. Also included are copies of the will of Joseph Bryan.
- March 13, 1879. A memorial notice for Mrs. Julia A. Cumming.
- 1895. Two pages entitled “Memories of Georgia, Richmond County sketches.”

- An article from Potter’s American Monthly, vol. 6 page 227, entitled “The Oldham line of the Neville family.” As well as a family tree for the Oldham family.
- A chart detailing the descendants of the marriage between Daniel Taylor and Annie Gardner.

- November 6, 1948. From Marry Cumming to her children Marry and Joe. This letter includes a list of requests from Mrs. Marry Cumming to her children and grandchildren.

- July 1, 1974. An announcement that Robert F. Wright, Jr. and John B. Long have been made partners of the firm of Nixon, Yow, Waller, & Capers. Also that Roy D, Tritt has become an associate.
- A newspaper article announcing D. Hugh Connolly has been made a partner in the law firm of Cumming, Nixon, Eve, Waller, & Capers, after five years as an associate.

- May 2, 1979. A report on the earnings, copies sold, and expenditures of a book entitled, “A Northern Daughter and a Southern Wife.” By Joseph Cumming.
- May 24, 1979. Several letters about billing problems regarding long distance phone calls on Mr. Cumming’s phone, and one letter in reply saying the that the wrongfully charged money has been credited to the account.
- No date. A letter from Mr. Cumming to Lawrence Welk in regards to Mr. Welk’s radio show. Mr. Cumming makes a suggestion for a radio show on the American Indian.
- July 16, 1979. From Mr. Welk to Mr. Cumming in regards to Mr. Cumming’s previous letter suggesting a show on the American Indian.
- September 20, 1979. A letter from Mr. Cumming to Mr. Wouk. The letter was written about the book “War and Remembrance,” by Mr. Wouk, and in the letter Mr. Cumming gives the book some criticism on a passage that he thinks is false.
- September 25, 1979. From Mr. Mealing to Mr. Cumming. The letter talks about a letter Mr. Mealing wrote that was published by John Barnes. His letter seems to have been of interest to Mr. Cumming, and also seems to be about various historical facts and families.
- October 1979. Changes Mr. Cumming is making in his Last Will and Testament in regards to his grand-daughter’s trust funds.
- November 6, 1979. From Mr. Wouk to Mr. Cumming in response to Mr. Cummings previous letter regarding “War and Remembrance.” The letter states that Mr. Wouk will take Mr. Cumming’s suggestions for future editions.
- December 4, 1979. From Lewis Richardson to Col. Cumming. A personal letter that also talks about various issues in their shared interest in history.
- January 6, 1980. From Henry to Joe Cumming. In this letter Henry discusses an article he read and had found interesting.
- May 30, 1979. From Gorde (?) to Mr. Cumming. This letter is in regards to various family research and findings the two have made.

- January 20, 1980. From Lewis Richardson to Col. Cumming. This letter is of a personal nature, but is also about history and various research projects. Richardson thanked Cummings both for his letter and the blueprint he sent him of downtown Augusta.
- January 23, 1980. Joseph Cumming to “Dear Abby.” This letter is about an essay called, “Living Will,” in which Mr. Cumming finds fault with the term “Will.” He says that she should not have included it in the title, but that he did enjoy the piece. On the letter is a response from Abby, complimenting his idea.
- January 25. A letter from Mrs. Osborne and a copy of an article she wrote entitled “Beloved Yankee.” The first few pages of the copy are faded.
- January 30, 1980. From Ray Cumming to Joseph Cumming regarding genealogical research and information J. Cumming had sent.
- January 31, 1980. Receipts of transactions in Neville C. Riley’s trust fund. Two copies.
- February 20, 1980. A letter from William Williford to Mr. Cumming in regards to a manuscript that Mr. Cumming sent in for publication.
- April 1980. An article written by Lewis Richardson entitled “The Federal Road, Or the Federal Roads.”
- March 4, 1980. From A-J Levinson of The Concern for the Dying to Mr. Cumming. The letter is in regards to Mr. Cumming’s letter which critiqued the Living Will.
- April 5, 1980. A letter from Lewis Richardson to Joseph Cumming. Also included is an article by James Kilpatrick titled, “Let Sunshine in the Ivory tower,” and an article by L. Richardson entitled, “Uncle Louis and Aunt Jane.’
- April 8, 1980. Part of a letter from Grand children to their grandparents.
- April 3, 1980. A letter from Mr. Cumming to his previous law partners requesting that his name be removed from their stationary, as he requested in a previous letter.
- April 29, 1980. A letter from Gwinn Nixon to Joseph Cumming in reply to Mr. Cumming’s previous letter asking for his name to be removed from the stationary.
- May 13, 1980. A letter from Mr. Nixon to Mr. Cumming in regards to the stationary. Mr. Nixon says that they have ordered new stationary in accordance with his request.
- May 16, 1980. A short letter from E. Coulter to Col. Cumming in regards to a pamphlet and letter that Mr. Cummings sent him many months ago.
- May 23, 1980. A letter from Lewis Richardson to Joseph Cumming in regards to various historical facts.
- June 21, 1980. A letter from Lewis Richardson to Col. Cumming. This letter is regards to the advanced copy of Mr. Cumming’s book that he sent to Mr. Lewis. Also included is genealogical information on the Richardson family.

- June 30, 1980. A letter from Lewis Richardson to Joe Cumming. The letter is in regards to the book that Mr. Cumming sent him.

- October 15, 1981. A letter to C. (?) and Katharine from Joseph Cumming in regards to their help in researching “The Hammonds of Radcliff,” for Ms. Bleser. Two copies.
- November 6, 1981. From Ms. Bleser to Mr. Cumming. The letter is in regards to “The Hammonds of Radcliff,” and how Mr. Cumming’s comments on a character in her book, Col. Cummings, will be used if the book is ever reprinted.
- November 24, 1981. A letter from Ms. Bleser to Mr. Cumming about her travels plans and thanking him for letters he sent.
- December 8, 1981. A letter from Ms. Bleser about her up-coming visit to Augusta.
