COAST GUARD COMBAT VETERANS ASSOCIATION®
  The United States Coast Guard has participated in nearly every war, declared and undeclared, the United States has been engaged since 1790. Its combat veterans have contributed outstanding and heroic service and many paid the ultimate price for safeguarding the freedom of the the nation.

The Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association is dedicated to extending the knowledge of the U. S. Coast Guard's service and participation in these significant historical events in United States history. The CGCVA provides a living link between the present and past so that the future may learn and develop from it.

 

What does the CGCVA do?

Although begun as a social association of comrades-at-arms, it has extended itself to assisting the widows and orphans and those combat veterans in need of advise or consultation.

The association has gained international recognition for its participation in the 50th Anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy, the Pacific Campaigns, Vietnam and Gulf War activities. Association members represent the Coast Guard at hundreds of local and regional meetings and dedications of veterans memorials as well as encouraging and supporting accurate historical research of the Coast Guard's role in combat and combat support operations of all eras.

 

Eligibility for Membership.

The receipt of any of following service awards establishes membership requirements for any active, reserve, retired or honorably discharged Coast Guard member who served in support of such missions. Written proof of award receipt is required through the submission of discharge documentation such as a copy of a DD-214, DD-215, or copy of discharge (reverse lists awards). Associate, nonvoting membership are available for those U.S. Coast Guard members meeting the combat criteria while in the service of another Armed Force. The U.S. Public Health Service members who served as member of the U. S. Coast Guard combat command. A spouse, child, or orphan of a deceased Coast Guard Combat Veteran.
