The reason they were there. Port of Damman. Largest Sea Port of Debarkation (SPOD) in Kuwait Theater of Operations (KTO).
Main container pier, Port of Damman. Has sufficient berthing for 86 ocean going vessels.

Port of Damman. Entirely man-made. No natural features. Built in early 80s by a South Korean Marine Construction Co.

Camp Batar. Barracks compound of PSU 303B, MIUWU 108 and U. S. Army Port Units. The surreal scene is caused by the air fouled from the burning of the Kuwait old fields.

Ammunition pier. Port of Damman. A Coast Guard responsibilty for security and defense.


Camp Batar. This place was described as having all the comforts of home - 125 degree (F) heat, "black air", MREs, and an unseen enemy -- not to exclude spitting camels.
