"We were kept in Cho Lon for a few days
on arrival in Saigon, awaiting transportation to our WPBs. Our quarters
in Cho Lon were primitive - I think it was an old hotel converted into barracks.
There were Army personnel at the door guarding us from behind sandbags.
"![]() "When we were landing at night at the Thon Son Nuit (sp) on our flight from the US, fuel tanks at the airport tank farm had been hit and they were burning a bright yellow-orange. That was March of 1966." |
![]() " This is a picture taken between April and August of 1966 on the Point Garnet in the waters off South Vietnam. The shooter was our cook at the time. His name was Brown or Browning. The sailor behind him was "Tucker" , an engineman (or fireman?). The sailor in the lower right corner was a well humored engineman and petty officer whose name I no longer recall, unfortunately." |
