Colby Shoemake's Vietnam

Colby shoemake was assigned to the spare boat crew with U. S. Coast Guard Division 12, Da Nang, RVN, from 1965 to 1966. He was in the first group to arrive in Vietnam. He reported 16 July 1965 to USS Snohomish County (LST-1126) under COMCOGARDIV 12 arriving at Da Nang 20 Jul 1965. On 17 Aug 1965 he transferred from USS Snohomish County to USS Sumner County (LST-1148), the to YR-71 in December 1965 where he continued serving in the capacity as relief relief crewman aboard nearly every cutter assigned to Division 12. There were additional duties including Shore Patrol in Da Nang.
