Cost of the trip: $2695.00 + the cost of ASU tuition

Price includes:

  • Round trip airfare from Atlanta Cape Town
  • Shared hotels rooms
  • Daily Breakfast
  • Transfers to and from the hotels
  • Medical Insurance coverage while you are abroad

What's not included:

  • Round trip transportation to the Atlanta Airport
  • Passport and visa costs
  • Souvenirs and any items bought at the traveler's discretion
  • Meals other than breakfast unless otherwise noted
  • All other expenses incurred by students while abroad, including but not limited to phone calls, transportation, etc.

Payment Deadlines

  • Application deadline December 15th, 2008 – $200 due
  • January 30th- Final Payment of $2495.00 Due

Mobile Phone Rental

  • ASU has teamed up with a company called Piccell Wireless to be able to offer you reasonably priced mobile phone service in South Africa. For $19.90 you can rent a Tri-band handset (this includes a handset, SIM card and free mailing to return the handset after your trip). For full details and to order visit:

Scholarships and Financial Aid

  • Scholarships: Augusta State University has study abroad scholarships that can be applied for in the fall semester. These scholarships are based on need and have certain requirements of GPA and recommendations. If you are interested in applying for these scholarship, download the application HERE
  • Financial Aid : You can use financial aid towards study abroad. If you want to discuss your options, please contact the financial aid office at Augusta State .
    Hope: Remember you CAN use HOPE towards the tuition costs.
  • Fund Raising: Classroom World is one of the best fund raisers on campus. We are the concession providers at Augusta State Baseball games, as well as a variety of other events. We have fundraisers throughout the spring semester. These groups fundraisers will be used to help purchase items while abroad. You must participate in these fundraisers to be eligible for the items purchased abroad. Individual fund raisers: Classroom Europe has a Yankee Candle sale every spring. Each individual student has the opportunity to participate, but no one is made to. If you do participate, the amount that you earn will be deducted from your final payment. In the past, students have earned as much as $450 with this fundraiser

Payment Deadlines:

  • Application deadline: December 15th or until spaces are full
    • Your completed application, with the $200 deposit
    • This deposit is non-refundable
  • Final Payment deadline: January 30th 2009
    • Your final payment to total $2495
    • If you fail to make the final payment, you will be dropped from the trip.
  • Both payments must be brought to the study abroad office, Allgood Hall E133
  • All program payments are non refundable.

Passports

  • You will need a valid passport to go on this trip - this can take a number of weeks to obtain. Visit the US State Dept website for more information.
  • The study abroad office accepts no responsibility for student's passports and visas. Passport copies are taken for the express purpose of providing a copy in the case of a missing or stolen passport.
  • Students are responsible for checking the state department website for information on passport rules and regulations and complying with these rules.
