Director, Center for Immigration Studies, March 2006 - present. Augusta State University.
The ASU Center for Immigration Studies was established in the spring of 2006 through a generous grant from U.S. District Court Judge, The Honorable Anthony Alaimo. The Center's main purpose is to examine the impact that immigration - both historically and at present - has had upon the State and region. In order to carry out its mission, the Center conducts studies of various immigrant groups, sponsors guest lectures, and organizes symposia which address differing aspects of immigration to the State and region. In addition, the Center provides services to various governmental and non-governmental agencies who work closely with the State's immigrant community.
Chair, Faculty Policies Committee, August 2001-June 2002. Augusta State University.
The Faculty Policies Committee is a campus-wide committee made up of twelve faculty members elected for a two-year term of office. The committee is responsible for developing, reviewing, and recommending policies governing faculty selection, promotion, and tenure. In addition, the committee recommends policies, rules and procedures concerning teaching, research, publications and other professional areas.
Graduate Assistant to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, August 1993- September 1994. Auburn University.
Directed the University's, Graduate Fellowship and Grant Opportunities Program; organized and served on institutional grant writing teams composed of interdisciplinary groups of faculty members and Deans from throughout Auburn's colleges and schools; served as the Dean's representative on University wide standing and ad-hoc committees; conducted a comprehensive survey of Auburn's peer institutions in an effort to assess the level of support in graduate fellowship programs offered by land-grant university's throughout the U.S.
Field Representative, May 1986 - September 1992. University of Maryland - University College Europe and City Colleges of Chicago - Europe. Locations: Rhein Main Air Base, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Lindsay Air Station, Wiesbaden, Germany (U.S. Air Force - Europe) and Rose Barracks, Bad Kreuznach, Germany (U.S. Army - Europe).
Administered university programs for the U.S. armed forces, civilians, and family members stationed in Germany. Actively recruited students for study in undergraduate and graduate programs; assessed the educational needs of the military community; scheduled and marketed annual course offerings; served as liaison between uniformed personnel and civilian education staff; evaluated military experience for civilian college credit; counseled students concerning their educational goals and funding opportunities while stationed overseas.
