- Selected as one of the first University System of Georgia (USG) team members to jointly develop and teach an on-line course with a faculty member from the University of Munich as part of the USG's European Union Studies Certificate Program. The course titled U.S. - E.U. Relations was designed to give the student a thorough understanding of the politics, political institutions and democratic processes practiced within the European Union and the United States. I was assisted in this effort with my colleague, Dr. Nicole Schley, at the University of Munich's Center for Applied Policy Studies. The University System of Georgia's European Union Center, headquartered at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology along with the University of Munich's Center for Applied Policy Research undertook this ground-breaking effort in internationalizing the curriculum by jointly developing a series of web-based courses, case studies, and content modules that lead to a certificate in European Union Studies. The on-line interdisciplinary program provides interactive learning for students throughout the University System of Georgia and participating German universities utilizing both English and German language resources. Furthermore, the certificate is recognized in both the U.S. and the E.U. At present, the program has expanded to include an additional sixteen on-line courses.
