| Brighton, England June 2006 Copyright: Jurgen Brauer, Augusta, Georgia, USA 1. Following the Greece conference, I flew to Gatwick airport. It lies halfway between London to the north and the seaside town of Brighton to the south. 2. Overlooking the railway station tracks, rows and rows of famous English row houses. 3. A closeup of row houses overshadowed by equally famous British skies. 4. Plenty of real estate for sale along this street which leads down to the sea. 5. The restaurant's name says it well - Brighton is due south. 6. Despite threatening skies, the weather actually was fine and sunny. Lots of people stroll along the beach ... 7. ... some soak up the sun on the pebble-strewn beach. 8. Beach cabins like these once were found along the beach. I didn't find any, though, except these in the Brighton aquarium. 9. The Brighton aquarium is one of Europe's oldest. This hall was made up as Jules Verne's novel "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". 10. A stone head among the coral. 11. On top of the aquarium, a restaurant with this interesting sculpture of sails. 12. Famous Brighton Pier ... 13. ... on the far end of which is an amusement park. 14. Uniformed, but kids nonetheless. 15. The English like their flowers. 16. This bouquet I spotted in the train station ... 17. ... and these beauties on the street. 18. I love how the Brits color their houses. 19. Wonder what happens when a storm blows through. I count at least 31 electric wires coming off this pole! 20. Back by the sea, the water was evidently too cold for anyone to try to swim or go for some watersports. 21. This photograph I took out of spite. Lots of vendors sold postcards with this scene of empty beach chairs looking out on the Atlantic. If you have a few pounds (or dollars) to spare, I'll sell you this photo ... 22. ... or this one!
