1. A professional conference brought me to Thessaloniki. Instead of taking a sidetrip to Berlin to visit my mother, I asked her to join me in Greece a few days before and after the conference. Here we are visiting a photography exhibit in a harbor warehouse. Coffeeshops like this one are ubiquitous.

2. A street scene near downtown. All these cars are parked on the street's intersection. Only a narrow strip behind the red car is left over for vehicles to enter the side street.

3. A corner building. The window shutters betray high-ceiling rooms.

4. Greek orthodox church fronted by the Greek flag.

5. A roman amphitheater is being unearthed.

6. A pre-conference sidetrip brought us to Vergina and the tomb of King Philip II.

7. A post-conference sidetrip took us to the Chalkidiki peninsula.

8. A lazy stroll to visit the marina.

9. Early morning sunlight along a still empty beach. In a few hours, it will be packed by sunbathers.

10. A boatride brought us to a fishing village. Early evening light produces a mellow mood.

11. Leftovers from a sumptuous dinner.

12. Waiting for the ferry to bring us back to the hotel, I spotted this opportunity. Neon lights reflecting off the water.
