Lesson 3: Business
Now, that we have thoroughly defined what
e-commerce is (Lesson 1) and how to make it work (Lesson 2),
let's now try to figure out how our e-commerce plan is going
to make money. The term business model is simply defined as
the method by which the company is going to keep itself alive,
that is how will it bring in enough revenue to offset expenses
and have some left over at the end of the day? Therefore,
an e-business model is simply how are we going to do this
in the electronic environment.
The Internet has certainly created new business
models and it will continue to spawn new ways of making money.
This lesson will hopefully help us create sources of revenue
that will make our business profitable for the long run!
At the end of this lecture, the student will
be able to:
1. Define a e-business models
2. Define the major e-business models
3. Be able to apply the various e-business
models to companies on the web.
4. Be able to determine the pros and cons
of each business model.
