Department Excellence Award

Augusta State University’s Staff Advisory Council awards the Department Excellence Award to one department every year. The Department Excellence Award recognizes performance excellence towards the overall mission of the university. As we will be consolidating with GHSU; we have moved our May award to this December.

Mission Statement

As a unit of the University System of Georgia, Augusta State University is committed to excellence in teaching, advancement of knowledge, and enrichment of the community in a climate that fosters humane values and a life-long love of learning.

This mission is based on the value of a liberal arts education for students who are diverse in ethnicity, background, age, and preparation.

The mission obligates the university to be open to the voices of all its members, to be responsive to the needs of its community, and to measure its success by the success of its students.

To accomplish its mission, the university offers a broad array of undergraduate programs in arts and sciences and professional fields of study and graduate programs below the doctoral level. It fosters the intellectual growth of its students through learning assistance in a university college, honors courses, and student research and cultivates faculty members who are excellent in teaching, active in scholarship, and generous in service.

Approved 2-1-05 by the Board of Regents.

Eligibility:

• Must be an ASU department. (Not an organization)
• Self-nomination is not allowed.

• Other notable activities

Award winners will receive a plaque to display in their office and all the bragging rights. The winning department will be announced at the Christmas Luncheon, December 11, 2012.

Nomination Process

Any staff member, faculty member, or student can nominate a department for the Department Excellence Award. Self-nomination is not allowed. To nominate a department, you must complete the Department Excellence Nomination Form below. The form can be sent electronically to Victoria Worsham (vworsham@aug.edu) or printed and sent through campus mail to Victoria Worsham, Box # 16. The form must be completed and responses should not exceed the word limit given. Once the nomination form is received, the nominator will be contacted with confirmation through e-mail or a phone call.
